Dr. Calin Cosma stands as a globally renowned seismic expert with over four decades of pioneering multi-disciplinary geoscience research, educational leadership, and the development of advanced seismic characterization tools and techniques. His outstanding career encompasses significant contributions to R&D initiatives, crafting innovative instruments, imaging methods, and surveying techniques that span the full spectrum of seismic applications, including acquisition, processing, and interpretation in diverse environments.
Part of the vanguard of geophysical methodology since the 1980s, Dr. Cosma has been instrumental in advancing the detection of discontinuities ahead of and around tunnels, significantly impacting environmental protection through his work in nuclear waste disposal site characterization, carbon sequestration, and mining. His prolific output includes hundreds of scientific publications and presentations that have shaped current understanding and practices in hard rock seismic imaging, ore delineation, and 3D fracture mapping.
With a solid track record in leading seismic surveys, monitoring excavation projects, manufacturing seismic equipment, and providing expert geoscience consultancy, Dr. Cosma holds a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Earth Physics from the University of Bucharest.
